Curlew Cottages are a local specialist in coastal holiday cottages based in the beautiful cinque port of Sandwich, Kent. Picturesque Sandwich was one of the cinque ports and retains its ancient network of narrow streets and timber framed buildings. A visit to the Guildhall Museum or the White Mill Rural Heritage Centre will tell you all about the town’s fascinating history and traditions.

The River Stour runs through the town with boat trips running from the quay. Take a seal-spotting cruise or venture further to with a trip to Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre. Sandwich Bay is a quiet beach with a lovely stretch of sand dunes home to rare plants, migratory birds and many a seal spotted. Visit the nearby bird observatory or nature reserve to find out more about the local wildlife.

There are many opportunities for walking and cycling in the beautiful countryside around Sandwich. The town has an extensive network of footpaths and is also on the national cycle route. Relax by browsing around the many interesting shops in the town centre or popping in to one of the many cafés or restaurants.

Sandwich has two world-class golf courses and hosts the Open Championship every ten years, the next time being in 2011.

Sandwich has an annual festival every August with events such as a raft race, street parties, local sport matches, a variety of concerts, walking tours and some more unusual offerings such as the duck race.
