Welcome to Curlew Cottages - Holiday Cottages

and homes
Kent and beyond!
Kent,
a county which, to many people, conjures up traditional
pictures of The Garden of England. Orchards and hop fields,
oast houses and weatherboard kent holiday cottages
or they think of it as a fast thoroughfare to the Channel
Ports. Rush through, cross the Channel and carry on south
to the sun.
Turn off the main roads and what you will
find is a county of diversity. From the rolling Downs and
the White Cliffs to the wild open spaces of Romney Marsh
and Dungeness. Explore the ancient Wealden forests or follow
the Pilgrims Way through hills and valleys.
There
is probably more history to be experienced in this corner
of England than any other part of the country. Visit the
place the Romans landed, see where the Vikings came, view
the airfields from the Battle of Britain and explore castles
dating from the Roman era to the beautiful Leeds Castle,
the magnificent Dover Castle and Walmer Castle, the official
home of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, the Queen Mother.
The uncrowded beaches vary from miles and
miles of sandy beaches at Sandwich, New Romney and Dymchurch
to rocky coves and bays with names that you would expect
to see in the tropics - Palm Bay, Botany Bay, Fan Bay and
St. Margaret's.
Eat
local oysters at Whitstable, buy freshly caught Dover Sole
on the beach at Deal or pick newly landed mackerel and cod
from the fish market in Folkestone. Enjoy a pint of beer
brewed with local hops by the county's own brewery and served
in some of the most picturesque pubs in England. Or sample
some of the county's own award winning wines.
Work off those excesses with miles of beautiful
country and coastal walks. Sail from local clubs at Whitstable,
Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Walmer and Dover. Or play golf on some
of the best courses in England including Sandwich, the St
Andrew's of the south, which boasts 3 championship links.
Shop in and
explore the medieval alleyways in the individual and unspoilt
towns of Cranbrook, Tenterden, Hythe, Deal and Sandwich
or shop until you drop at the state of the art out of town
outlets in Ashford and Bluewater, the largest shopping mall
in Europe.
Visit
Canterbury and see the foundation of the Church of England
where Thomas Becket was slain or stand on the cliff tops
at Dover and view the skies of France and imagine the Battle
of Britain.
And if all that is still not enough for your
short break or holiday you could still take a day trip from
your on a ferry or through the Tunnel to enjoy the pleasures
of France - you can't get any closer to France without being
there!
